CERTIFICATION LEVELS 1-3 REQUIREMENTS AND CONTENTS

Requirements for applicants seeking Level 1–3

The syllabus presented below is based on free non-sub-licensable license for using GEN TRIZ Level 1 - Level 3 training and certification materials and other materials licensed from proprietary sources.

All certificates issued by MATRIZ till October 2022 are recognized as valid and suitable for further certification levels.

Certification Level 1. Required knowledge, abilities and skills:

  • Methods for activating creative thinking and generating ideas.
  • Foundations of TRIZ.
  • System Operator.
  • TRIZ basic definitions: an engineering (technical) system, product, tool, function, ideality, ideal final result, inventive situation, inventive problem, etc.
  • Function Analysis for products.
  • Trimming for products.
  • Basics of Cause Effect Chain Analysis analysis (or Root-Conflict Analysis).
  • Resources and resource analysis.
  • Engineering (technical) contradictions.
  • Altshuller’s (or later) matrix for the elimination of engineering (technical) contradictions.
  • Physical contradictions.
  • Elimination of physical contradictions.

Certification format: Written test, and/or assignments report.
Duration of recommended training: not less than 24 class/online hours. 
Certification is carried out by trainers accredited by Certification Committee of MATRIZ Official (at least Level 3).

Certification Level 2 Required knowledge, abilities and skills:

  • Analysis of Cause-effect chains and the ability to discern root/ key disadvantages.
  • Formulation of key problems/issues.
  • Feature transfer (merging alternative systems).
  • Function analysis for processes.
  • Function/Cost diagram (Diagnostic analysis).
  • Substance-Field analysis.
  • 76 Inventive Standards for inventive problem solving.
  • Basics of the Algorithm of Inventive Problems Solving (ARIZ-85C): introduction.
  • Models of technical (engineering) systems evolution. 
  • S-Curve of evolution. Developmental stages of technical systems.
  • The uneven development of technical systems' parts.
  • Indicators and recommendations for every development stage of technical systems.

Certification of Level 2 is only possible on the basis of having certificate of Level 1 from MATRIZ or MATRIZ Official.
Certification testing format: Successful completion of assignments report, and completion of a written test (optional).
Duration of recommended training: not less than 40 class/online hours.
Certification is carried out by trainers accredited by Certification Committee of MATRIZ Official (at least Level 4).

Certification Level 3 Required knowledge, abilities and skills:

  • Fundamentals of Advanced TRIZ.
  • The Algorithm of Inventive Problem Solving (ARIZ-85C).
  • Types of Flows.
  • Flow analysis.
  • Analogue Problems. Application of analogue problems.
  • Function-Oriented Search (FOS).
  • Super-effects analysis.
  • Theory of Technical (engineering) Systems Evolution.
  • Laws of evolution of technical systems.
  • Trends and lines of evolution of technical systems.
  • TRIZ-based forecasting.
  • Problems with unclear causes. Subversion analysis.
  • Anticipatory Failures Analysis.

Certification of Level 3 is only possible on the basis of having certificate of Level 2 from MATRIZ or MATRIZ Official.
Certification testing format: Successful completion of assignments report, and completion of a written test (optional). 
Duration of recommended training: not less than 80 class/online hours.
Certification is carried out by trainers accredited by Certification Committee of MATRIZ Official (at least Level 5).
