September 2, 2023

THE EVENT

The 1st annual meeting of the TRIZ Master Certification Council (TMCC) of MATRIZ Official was held in hybrid mode in Graz, Austria on September 2, 2023 and was open to the public. The meeting convened from 13:00 to 14:55 CET, with Chairman Dr. Simon Litvin presiding, and Dr. Oleg Abramov, Academic Secretary, assisting.

ATTENDANCE

The TRIZ Master Certification Council members in attendance were:

Besides the members of TMCC, over 30 TRIZ specialists from various countries, were in attendance both in person and online.

ELECTION OF RETURNING BOARD

Due to using a remote voting system (Slido), a returning board was not elected.

APPLICANTS

The TMCC considered one application for TRIZ Master Certification:

  • Ramez Kassou, Russia.

PROCEDURE

The defense and voting procedures were as follows:

  1. Applicant’s presentation – 30
  2. Scientific Advisor’s speech – 5 minutes.
  3. Opponents' speech – 5 minutes for each opponent.
  4. Questions and discussion – no more than 20 minutes.
  5. Council deliberation, voting and tallying votes – no more than 15 minutes.
  1. RAMEZ KASSOU THESIS DEFENSE

Dr. Ramez Kassou, who had submitted all documents required for the defense, presented his thesis entitled “The development of TRIZ innovation activity in an expert IT-system based on the method of forming and processing patterns of inventive entities”.

Scientific Supervisor’s Review (introduced by Oleg Abramov):

Dr. Sergey Logvinov, as a scientific advisor of this work, presented a summary of his review. His conclusion is that the work meets MATRZ requirements for TRIZ Master degree and Dr. Ramez Kassou deserves to be certified as a TRIZ Master.

Opponents’ Opinions (introduced by Oleg Abramov):

  • Igor Misuchenko recommended, despite some drawbacks in the applicant’s work, in favor of certification.
  • Isak Bukhman also recommended in favor of certification.

QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION

Questions were asked and comments were made by Council members:

  • Alex Lyubomirskiy made a few comments regarding the presentation and solution developed by Dr. Ramez Kassou. He said he cannot see from the thesis that the roadmap developed really works in practice and asked for evidence that this roadmap is efficient,
  • Hongyul Yoon asked for evidence that the expert system developed is better than expert systems developed without TRIZ,
  • Yong Won Song asked why the utilization of resources was not used to develop the new expert system,
  • Valeri Souchkov asked why most of the practical results in the thesis are presented in Arabic while the official language of MATRIZ Official is English,
  • Oleg Abramov asked where TRIZ tools were used in the PTIS model presented,
  • Simon Litvin made a comment about too brief presentation of TRIZ tools utilized and asked how/if the original Inventive Principles were customized to be applicable to IT systems.

Two questions were asked from the audience:

  • Huang asked how Function Analysis was used to solve inventive problems, while Function Analysis is known to be used rather for problem analysis than for problem solving,
  • Martsinovskii asked whether the final solution was reviewed by a software architect and what were his/her comments.

VOTING:

After brief deliberation, the Council voted on whether to award Dr. Ramez Kassou the TRIZ Master qualification.

The remote anonymous voting system (Slido software) collected the votes, and Mr. Valeri Souchkov announced the results: 10 (ten) votes were cast (Dr. Sergey Logvinov, being the scientific advisor, did not vote), and of those

  • 2 votes are in favor
  • 6 votes against
  • 2 abstain

Therefore, by the decision of the Council, Dr. Ramez Kassou was not certified as TRIZ Master.

MATRIZ BOARD APPROVAL OF TMCC SESSION RESULTS

MATRIZ board (8 board members participated) has unanimously approved the results of TMCC session.
